Expenses – Privacy Policy

Last updated: 25 October 2026

Expenses turns receipts into expense reports. It is built so that your data stays yours: the developer does not collect, receive, store or have access to any of it. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.

Where your data is kept

Your reports, expenses, receipts, personal and bank details, and signature are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they are also kept in the private iCloud database of your own Apple Account, so they appear on your other devices. Only you can access that database; the developer cannot. Your name, address, bank details and signature are end-to-end encrypted in iCloud. Everything else is encrypted by iCloud in transit and on Apple's servers, and is end-to-end encrypted too if you turn on Advanced Data Protection for iCloud. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's privacy policy.

Reading receipts

Receipts are read on your device with Apple's text recognition and, where available, Apple Intelligence on-device models. Receipt images and text are not sent to the developer or to any other service for reading.

Services the app contacts

Siri, Shortcuts, widgets

Siri and Shortcuts actions run inside the app on your device. Widgets show a summary that the app saves on your device for them. Siri asks you to unlock your device before reading or changing your reports.

Camera, photos and contacts

The camera is used only to scan receipts you choose to scan. Photos and files are read only when you pick them. When you add a person to an expense from your contacts, only the contact you pick is read, and only their name and organisation are kept.

Your control

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes and contact
